Should Sports club be made mandatory in schools and colleges?

View
Sports plays a vital role in an individual's life as they can build team spirit. They
help in developing mental and physical toughness. Participation in sports will
help a child’s physical and social skills. A balance should be maintained that
matches the child’s maturity, skills and their interests with their sports
participation. Sports offer a change in their monotony lives. The recreational
activities eliminate the unhealthy habits of the children that may lead them to
diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, joint pains and
other serious diseases. When students are physically fit, they will achieve more
academically. Sports are greater source of recreation. Sports remove stress
and provide relaxation to our mind and body. In schools there are games and
sports but the criteria are unsatisfactory. Sports and games are optional in
schools and colleges. It should be made compulsory to every child to
participate in sports and games so that rather than bookish learning and
studies they should remain healthy and fit by participating in various types of
sports and games so that it may also benefit our country and promote our
country by producing young athletes.
Sports helps to learn to cope with success and failure as an individual and a
group. These interactions can greatly facilitate bonding which can help children
to be more sociable in the future career. Several researches have indicated
that children who participate in sports and physical activities are less likely to
move towards crimes. It inculcates discipline, confidence and above all builds
sportsmanship which is very essential where it helps to deal with winning and
losing with grace. Schools and colleges must provide supervised and
unsupervised sports in timetable and environment because supervised session
can be focused approach with the guidance from coaches in different sports.
Unsupervised sporting environment offers a choice of sports and frees them
from the rigid sporting structure.

Counterview
Sports at schools and colleges should not be compulsory because it could be
better spent learning other subjects. It is also my belief that students have the
right to choose whether or not we do sports because we are allowed to choose
the subjects that are more important, so why are we not allowed to choose
whether or not we do sports. Every year P. E we do the same sports and drills.
After training we are usually tired and not bothered to do our home work or
study and again dragging down our academic results. If sports was optional,
the people participating in the teams would be the people that want to be
them, the people who want to play and win. But instead, there are people who
are not interested in the sport and our only there because they have to be,
these people dragged down the team and ruin the sport for those who want to
be there. If sport were made optional the school would seem better academic
and sports results. According to the education facilities one in five schools
continue to lack even adequate sporting facilities and if the facilities are not in
proper condition this may lead to injuries. Students who don’t have much
athletic abilities may not have the skills necessary to compete or even defend
themselves against better or more competitive athletes. Meritocracy should
not be decided on the basis of score of outdoor sports

Single Sex schools are better for education
View

Few educators are formally trained to use gender-specific teaching techniques. However, it’s no secret that experienced teachers usually understand gender differences and are adept at accommodating a variety of learning styles within their mixed-gender classrooms. In terms of the compounding influence of being in a single-sex school over time, there appears to be no value add in numeracy achievement and even a decline in reading achievement over time in single-sex schools compared to co-educational schools.Boys in coeducational settings are less likely to take courses in the arts or tackle advanced academic subjects. Boys tend to soften their competitive edge and become more collaborative in a single-sex setting and rule dialogs and gathering based learning.Girls often are less shy in a single-sex environment, which means they often take more risks. They become more positively competitive and would take up community oriented and talk based subjects. Specific teaching strategies can be adapted to accomplish specific goals.Single sex schools make it comfortable to adjust to varied learning conditions. These schools have been very advantageous to young ladies and young men.
Lisha Rajpal

Counterview:
We have spent several generations advancing the equality of the sexes. Much progress has been made. With that in mind coeducation which is based on that laudable theme of equality seems like the right way to go. That's why most private and public schools use the coeducation model. Most of the time that works well. Experts feel that mixed schools prepares the children towards the real world of men and women, a place where no segregation is found. They learn to get together with eachother in all aspects of job and profession. These schools provide an experience to get along with different people from varied cultures, races, ages and backgounds. It teaches them to accept and respect the differences.Single sex schools instigates gender stereotyping and gender inequality. They get to mingle with eachother and understand their ways of thinking.

Zoos must be abolished

View
Zoos educate the public and foster an appreciation of the animals by bringing the people and the animals together. The exposure and knowledge motivate people to protect the animals. There are many endangered species that fall prey to poachers, habitat loss, starvation, and predators, Zoos provide them a safe environment, where they are protected from such dangers. Many Zoos also have breeding programs for endangered species. In the wild, these animals might have trouble finding mates to breed. The Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredit reputed Zoos which hold high standards for their treatment of the animals. According to the AZA, accreditation means, "Official recognition and approval of a zoo or aquarium by a group of experts."A good zoo provides an enriched habitat wherein the animals are never bored, are well cared-for, and have plenty of space. Visiting zoos are a tradition, and a visit to a zoo is a wholesome, family activity. Seeing an animal in person is a much more personal and memorable experience than seeing that animal in a nature documentary. Some would argue that humans have little, if any duty to non-human animals because humans are more important, and if keeping animals in zoos serves any educational or entertainment purposes, it serves a purpose to the humans, even if that purpose is not beneficial for the animals. Rehabilitation of wildlife as well as caring for exotic pets that are no longer wanted or not taken care of, are taken over by some zoos. The Federal Animal Welfare Act establishes standards for care for both accredited and unaccredited animal exhibitors.

Counter View

We do not have a right to breed, capture and confine other animals, even if they are endangered from an animal rights standpoint. Being a member of an endangered species does not mean that the animals have fewer rights. Animals in captivity suffer from stress, boredom, and confinement. Intergenerational bonds are broken when individuals get sold or traded to other zoos and not even a drive-through safari can compare to the freedom of the wild. Baby animals bring in visitors and money, but this incentive to breed new animals leads to overpopulation. Surplus animals are sold not only to other zoos, but also to circuses, canned hunting facilities, and even for slaughter. Some zoos just kill their surplus animals outright. The vast majority of captive breeding programs do not release animals back into the wild. The offspring are forever part of the chain of zoos, circuses, petting zoos, and exotic pet trade that buy, sell and barter animals among themselves and exploit them. Ned the Asian Elephant was born at an accredited zoo, but later confiscated from an abusive circus trainer and was finally sent to a sanctuary. Removing individuals from the wild will further endanger the wild population because the remaining individuals will be less genetically diverse and will have more difficulty finding mates. If people want to see wild animals in real life, they can observe wildlife in the wild or visit a sanctuary. A true sanctuary does not buy, sell, or breed animals, but takes in unwanted exotic pets, surplus animals from zoos or injured wildlife that can no longer survive in the wild. If zoos are teaching children anything, it's that imprisoning animals for our own entertainment is acceptable. Studies have shown that elephants kept in zoos do not live as long as elephants in the wild. The federal Animal Welfare Act establishes only the most minimal standards for cage size, shelter, health care, ventilation, fencing, food, and water. For example, enclosures must provide "Sufficient space to allow each animal to make normal postural and social adjustments with adequate freedom of movement. Inadequate space may be indicated by evidence of malnutrition, poor condition, debility, stress, or abnormal behaviour patterns." Violations often result in a slap on the wrist and the exhibitor is given a deadline to correct the violation. Even a long history of inadequate care and AWA violations, such as the history of Tony the Truck Stop Tiger, will not free the animals.
In the case of zoos, both sides will argue that their side saves animals. Whether or not zoos benefit the animal community, they certainly do make money. As long as there is demand for zoos, they will continue to exist. We can start by making sure that zoo conditions are the best possible for the animals who are confined to them and try to retain their natural habitat as much as possible.

AADHAR BREACHES PRIVACY

View

In the world where everyone shows and tells everything, I value discretion and privacy. Aadhar card provides u with national identification and social benefits and protects us from corruption and tax evasion. In short, Aadhar is the ultimate panacea for all our social needs as a citizen of India. But does Aadhar keep our information safe?
No matter how much the government tries to encourage the circulation of Aadhar card the loopholes still exists.
It is not a valid address proof: UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority Of India) doesn’t validate Aadhar card as an address proof but still, banks continue to use it as an address proof and identity proof. Providing the address when you go to get your Aadhar card is optional thereby making it unfit as an address proof. The motto behind this is to make sure every citizen gets Aadhar card without any documents.UIDAI is Aware of the fact that Aadhar is not an address proof and hence it has clearly mentioned in Aadhar Bill as only identity proof. It is, therefore, necessary for UIDAI to announce this because banks use biometric eKYC to on- board customers and when Aadhar card is not a valid proof they might have to ask for another document for address proof despite biometric eKYC.It is clearly not a proof of citizenship: but it is widely used to apply for a passport or other documents which are, in fact, illegal and lethal.
From the passport website:Furnishing of Aadhaar card will expedite processing of passport applications.Aadhaar letter/card or the e- Aadhaar (an electronically generated letter from the website of UIDAI), as the case may be, will be accepted as Proof of Address (POA) and Proof of Photo-Identity (POI) for availing passport related services. Acceptance of Aadhaar as PoA and PoI would be subject to successful validation with Aadhaar database.
One can easily take print out of their Aadhar card as many times as they want and have multiple copies. Aadhar card doesn’t have any hologram

or any other such feature on it which makes it unfit as a valid identity proof alone. The validation of Aadhar card used either at passports as an identity proof or anywhere else is to be done via sending an
OTP which is a process that would take so long to verify each and every user and hence is never adopted although suggested. Basically if not verified via OTP Aadhar card is a just another piece of paper with your name, photo and address on it.Moreover, UIDAI has given a black and white copy of Aadhar card equal validity and importance as the colour original one, in case if someone loses their Aadhar card.
Considering the fact that illegal procurement of Aadhar card is not only a child's play but widely accepted and with full validation is a shocking reality and the somebody has to bell the cat sooner than later. Before the government makes Aadhar card mandatory for any more schemes or acquiring any other means of identification the officials must give another thought to the step. Maybe they can start with eradicating all the flaws and ensure full proof security or else the talks about insecure digitisation in India are always round the corner.

Aadhar is the key to an individual's citizenship.   In the past few years ,aadhar had been considered as an important proof of identification. It had been considered as one of the most reliable source of information about an individual as it gives the necessary details like phone number, address, photo, bank account number and other demographic and biometrical information.

Although Aadhar gives the most information of an individual it must be noted that the details are limited to its boundaries. For example,it provides the bank account balance but not the transactions details of every customer. In fact, it helps to avail the government welfare schemes like pension which  will directly be credited to the account. The aadhar must be linked to pan card,  voter id,ration card and mobile number. By doing so,it prevents the duplication of the pan card and also eliminates the circulation of black money. Therefore,it only keeps a check on the regular income tax paid .Voter id must be linked so as to avoid  duplication and therefore clearing the voting system. This does not give the details about the party voted by the candidate. The ration card is only used to keep a track of the ration and avoid its misuse. On the whole, the basic idea of an Aadhar card is to acquire the maximum details about the individual only to prevent the duplicate and mishandling of the accounts. It acts as a reminder for pan cards,a voting right which the individual holds, a budgeted for the ration throughout the year and the messenger for the ammendents to the card through mobile phones. It affects the privacy to the extent of knowledge of the person and not in the decision making or the family related matters. It also acts as an agent to reduce corruption. It give the clarity of the person in fulfilling his duties towards the country and  not his character. It does give out the personal information like the family members, friends, business customers, etc. It must also be noted that an Aadhar integrates tye various other proofs and therefore making it easy to handle and thereby making the best use of it.
Thus,it must be concluded that aadhar is the gift wrap of a gift box .It  gives only the outer view of an individual. Aadhar does not breach the privacy of an individual. It is the  financial and social virtual manager.

Homeschooling

View
The aim of every educational system is to offer great opportunities for children to learn new skills, as well as harness their own unique qualities and interests. Home schooling is no different than public school or a private school.
Homeschooling is home education. This does not mean that all learning takes place in the home, only that the household, or parents, have complete control over the direction of what their children learn, how they learn it, and when.
Homeschooling isn’t for everyone as each and every child is unique in his/her own way.
Every child has their own abilities and as there are huge advances that are taking place every single day, this gives a lot of opportunities to children for them to achieve their goals and succeed in their own way. But this doesn’t always work for the betterment of the child. As the child may prosper in an environment amongst his/her age.
The advantages of homeschooling includes:
1. Strong Relationships: The relationship between the parents and the child becomes a much stronger relationship as there is more family time that is spent together. And there satisfaction that the children are learning, developing skills, and maturing in a way that aligns to the parents goals and values.
2. Interest in sports: Children can still participate in recreational leagues, amateur leagues, attend local homeschool sports classes, or create their own sports leagues.
3. Socialization: Less ridicule and social pressures that reduce self-esteem and discourage learning. There is no bullying. And they have greater exposure to more adults through field trips and other activities. Another thing is connection to other homeschoolers of varying ages and skill levels. And finally real-life skill building is stronger in home-based learning.
4. Recognition of achievements: There is less distraction from students who do not value learning allows for greater achievement. Homeschool students often show a greater pride in their own achievements, as they are self-motivated.
5. Community involvement: More time to be involved in the community whether through volunteer opportunities or community projects, this gives great exposure to children at young ages on how to coordinate and work with other members of a community.

Shreekrishna Vijay

Counter view :-
An important aspect of an education outside of the home is the interaction amongst the students that prepares them to have constructive engagements with fellow citizens when their schooling is over. Interacting with other children who may be taught different belief systems and come from different social-economic statuses and religious or ethnic backgrounds prepare students for their future, where the potential of having to deal with someone who is different is almost inevitable. While there may be attempts by parents to socialise their children through other means (such as joining sports teams or youth clubs), these organisations are centered around similarity - all the kids that enjoy the same thing or believe in the same values. School is a mixture that does not filter out students, and there is an inherent social value to such a mix.
We believe that governments have a duty to ensure, or at the very least, provide children the opportunity to interact with other children of different backgrounds to help in their development of becoming tolerating and respectable individuals. The only way to do this is to eliminate systems such as homeschooling that promote exclusivity under the guise of protection. The only way to truly hold the child's interests as a priority is to to prepare them for the society that they will soon inherit; homeschooling attempts to construct a world for the child that often does not match reality.
