Kalotsav is that time of the year when art is at the
heart of everything we do at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce. With flamboyant
dances and fluent oratorical performances, Josephites are in for a treat. All
these performances pleasing the eyes and the ears, food connoisseurs asked the
apparent question - Where is all the food that combines art with delicacy? The
answer was food trucks!
The Entrepreneurship Cell of SJCC invited 3 food
trucks every day during the 3 days of Kalotsav festivities in campus. Food
trucks are a combination of passion, perseverance, resilience and love for the
art of making food delicious and quirky. Stories behind setting up these food
trucks are as diverse and interesting as the food that they sell.
Food Truck Spotted. |
‘Stoned Over Sausages’ have a great style of
describing what they do – ‘We don't know if there are sausages in heaven. So
let's find our salvation here’.
‘Smoke Signal BBQ’, as the name aptly suggests,
sells hot and smoked barbecue delicacies.
The name Lalit Ashok is associated with elegance and
elitism. You would expect the same from their food truck, ‘The Lalit Food Truck
Company’.
‘Two to Tango’ is a food truck company that
epitomizes big burgers! The food truck is based out of Koramangala. The food
truck sells burgers, pizzas, sandwiches and subs.
‘S.W.A.T – Serving With a Twist’ is a wandering food
truck with different locations to satisfy the appetite of Bangaloreans. The
versatility of this food truck’s cuisine is reflected in its menu. From Mexican
nachos to ‘All American Meat Burger’ to ‘Fish Burger’, the food is truly
international in its outlook.
Nothing can entertain your senses better than a bag
of paneer chips and a dance competition in Loyola Hall! The food truck festival left no room for disappointment for it took the love for food to a whole new level.
The three days of Kalotsav ensured that the juices
of creativity were oozing in our heads. But these food trucks ensured that our
mouths were watering! The spirit of entrepreneurship with a passion for food
has created this beautiful culture of food trucks in our city. Reflecting on
the diverse cuisines and equally diverse stories, we are sure to take home a
lot more than memories of tasty food.
